Since last Thursday some searches in Google Maps displays photos from Panoramio in the left bar, including the option of watching more photos over the map. Try for example to search for "London" to get some cool photos from the city.
Also since today in Google Maps there is a new feature called "More..." located beside the satellite, map and terrain buttons. After clicking over "More..." you can check the option "Photos" to see Panoramio images displayed over the map in a cool interface.
I am very glad to have this new feature. I love it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
awesome addition
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAn extension would be the ability to choose temporal alignment for the photos, say by season, so the panorama of photos can be viewed by spring, summer, winter or fall.
Great to see more pictures back in the less popular areas of the map. Good work by all the team.
ReplyDeleteYeah i noticed it!
ReplyDeleteIt's so handy!!
That´s a really cool feature but I wonder what happened to my photos. I used to have hundreds of them in Google Maps but now they are all gone! Zooming in does not help, they are not there anymore:(
ReplyDeleteWhilst I will always welcome further exposure of all our photos on Panoramio especially on Google Maps, there seems to be a discrepency in the photos displayed.
ReplyDeleteI have a number of shots that are prominent in a couple of areas due to the lack of other photos. When I look on Google Maps as described I do not see ANY of my shots.
I have photos that have been selected for Google Earth, have a blue dots in Google Earth, have plenty of views, appear at a higher level on GE than other nearby shots, and some are on the Panoramio Favorites pages.
Everything seems in order. Except they don't appear in Google Maps.
Now this could be just me and my photos, but I doubt it.
I have looked closely at the differences between Google Earth and Google Maps in the areas I normally have shots in. I have noticed that what is displayed in Google Maps is a sub-set of the full Google Earth/Panormaio set of shots.
From my observations I would say this sub-set is based on a date criteria.
Could it be that Google Maps have an older copy of the Panoramio photo database that excludes more recent shots of mine and other shots??
Does any one else out here have similar experiences of this great new feature, all be it possibily flawed??
Tony
Alucinante!!!... panoramio sigue dando cada vez más caña. Enhorabuena
ReplyDeleteYeah the feature is really good one, hope u guys just keep adding such sort of ones. Some of my pics uploaded a long time back are still not selected for GE, hope to have these on GE...

I uploaded some very helpfull images of the exit signs from Orlando International Airport over 10 months ago and they don't even appear in Earth.
ReplyDeleteI have hundereds of images taken to help visitors but what is the use spending the time if they don't get displayed?
Tony, the majority of my own shots have been in GE for more than a year but they are not in Google Maps anymore. So, could it be that Google Maps is missing BOTH the old photos AND the new ones?
ReplyDeleteClarification: I mentioned "Panoramio Favorites" in my earlier blog post. Of course, I meant "Panoramio Popular" pages.
ReplyDeletePetteri, It does seem like a subset of the main photo database.
However, I do know that the team are looking in to this issue.

Has anyone attempted to get in touch with the powers that be to resolve the issues concerning the overlap of GE, GMaps and Panoramio? Or am I just dreaming?
ReplyDeleteI decided to make life difficult for myself and /not/ include that in my "Peaks, Mountains, Hills and Trails" map ... for one reason: I don't want /all/ the pictures taken in a certain area.
ReplyDeleteI just now looked at your photos tagged "mountains" ... a very nice selection.
With flickr I could get a GeoRSS feed for that tag but I can't find that here.
Is this planned?

p.s. I don't see "subscribe to replies" ... hope I can find my way back here if/when there's some response

Please update all photos in zip code 70124. The photos are a couple of years after Katrina and many updates have taken place. If I saw that on Google Map, I would think New Orleans was still totally devastated. Reginelli's is up and running.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Just found Panoramio through the Google maps layer. Neat service.
ReplyDeletePosting here because I randomly clicked the "Opt Out" link at the bottom of this page and got a 404:

Não é o sol entrando pelas folhas e galhos da árvore e refletindo um solo avermelhado ou o pináculo de igreja ou qualquer outra imagem que nos impressiona, mas é sim, a alma do fotógrafo quando capta a imágem e reflete nela o espírito do amor e da dedicação pela arte de fotografar. Parabéns pelas imagens. Hoje é 13 de julho de 2008.
