In the previous post I announced that Panoramio will be in maintenance for around 48 hours starting on Sunday September 20th 12:00 GMT (13:00 Continental Europe, 05:00, San Francisco, 21:00 Beijing).
After that maintenance work the site will be back to normality on Tuesday around 12:00 GMT with some minor changes and removed limitations. All comments, tags and favorites will be displayed again. Also the 32 thumbnails per page will be back. You will see more photos on the map and reviewed photos will be added to Google Earth weekly. Also you will be able to upload up to 10 Mb files. However the "all" tab will disappear temporary and the popular tab and KMLs will not get new photos for 2 weeks. You can read more details about these changes in the forum.
I hope you like the changes, but please drop your opinion in the forum. Thanks for your patience!
Eduardo
Yes! Thank you Eduardo, for giving us the 32 thumbnails back, and the tags and favorites :-) Also, the 10 MB image range is very nice, can be very useful at times; still, for those with slow connections, I think it's best to keep images at 2 MB and less (which is what I try to do).
ReplyDeleteYour friend, Bruce Jensen
is-it possible to recover my tags before the last upgrade?
ReplyDeleteI just uploaded eight photos of the same location which is NOT a city that is in the database of GE (it is a small Mexican village). So for each of the eight photos I had to go through the same tedious mapping procedure.
ReplyDeleteBefore you added the ten photo uploads as a group I only had to map one time (on an unrecognized location) and then the second and succeeding images began at this newly mapped location. I wish this would be reinstated.
Thank you.
Eduardo, acabo de entrar y me gusta lo que veo, la rápidez que va pasando las páginas, la nueva visión de las fotos, en fin, que se ha mejorado muchisimo, espero no cambiar de opión con el uso. Saludos Rosa
ReplyDeletedear Eduardo,
ReplyDeleteI have to state that Panoramio has gotten a complete new feel and dynamics after the changes you recently made. I am really pleased with this development and I want to thank you and all others involved for the great and increasing fun Panoramio is presenting me with on a daily basis.
respect !

Just to let you know that I have sent your fabulous site to many of my friends across the planet who either photo as a hobby or are amateur astronomers and are nifty with a camera.
ReplyDeleteOne of the fellows instead of studying the use of his camera and getting the hang of it decided to take a book on web design from the library to see if he can design and will never match your expertise with design, camera eye and the dimensions your photos artistically excel in creating ...I thought you would enjoy the funny story of his attempt to compete.
Archaeology, adventure travel and the study of urbanization take me away from the daily pressures of real estate in a down economy, so I enjoy your photos. I have an old Minox 35mm, a Fuji Digital and am looking into a smaller Canon so the card will work with my new Acer laptop (also have Dell Desktop).
Thanks for the "lessons" in manipulating the maps and finding the locations.
Hello, Eduardo. Thanks for the hard work that you all do, and for providing such a nice place for us to post and view photos.
ReplyDeleteSince this last maintenance bit, I have a number of photos that are stuck in the description area of the upload page. After I hit "save", I wind up at this page: http://www.panoramio.com/upload_description , and nothing changes on my gallery front page. I'm wondering if perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
Thanks for the help.
Hmmmm??? I really do not know how to be happy with the changes. Before you had one added to one location on the map and the next foto would be locationed at the place of the first, till you clicked on "voltooien", probably "finish" in English. Now I have to do this seperately and have to search over and over again en the thumbnail is so small that all my foto's look the same. Second: too much foto's to be viewed makes it for me disturbing. But it is faster and I will get used to it if this is what most people want.
ReplyDeleteWhat is bothering me most is that I cannot search on the main pages on my "tags" anymore. When I click in the next page on the hyperlink "Photos tagged with … (any tag I like) … in Google earth." Nothing happens !!! The same goes for some places.
If I search for Los Loros, and choose the one in Villahermosa in Spain from the list. I wind up somewhere in South Amerika. A little weird, I guess.
So, are these problems still under construction? (it was OK as it was, at least I thought, I was very satisfied with it)
Greetings Nancy
Uhhhh, I forgot to mention, maybe it is helpfull, I am working inn Safari on a Mac. Maybe that is causing my/the problems. I do have Firefox installed too, but that programn doesn't show more than 90% of the photos, so that is not my weapon of choice for Panoramio.
ReplyDeleteGreeting (again), Nancy
hello,
ReplyDeletei read that "everything's back to normal" on other sites - but that's definitely not the case with my page: more than half of my pictures have vanished and not returned to the page yet, and all tags are still completely messed up! as we are more than three days overdue now: is work still in progress and things will turn out fine after some time, or is it just my page being left in that misery for ever?
Thanks for answering!
P.
Love the new format.
ReplyDeleteFaster and easier to use.
Great job.

I think the removal of the "all tab" is a stepback. That was very useful. I hope you guys put much thought into it. Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi. When I try to updoad my pictures and especially when I want to map them, I cannot reach the place to accept it, as soon I try to see it to click on it, suddenly it is going under the bottom of the screen and it is impossible to accept the locaion. Have you find this problem alrerady and if yes, are you going to solve it? With my best regards, Patrick
ReplyDeleteHi, after the maintenance i found the uploading speed now is extremely slow as compared to the past and it's always hanging there with "error on the page" displayed while uploading. thanks for removing the limitations and hope the uploading speed can go back to normal soon.
ReplyDeletewhat's still problem? already sign in then keep asking to sign in all the time...
ReplyDeletecan some one tell me why or how to fix this?
thanks
Most of my photos were already visible in google earth; now only one is visible!
ReplyDeleteI tried using the "fill in this form page" because, as the help section states, "If the photo is mapped, fill in this form and we'll correct the error." My photos are mapped, but the review form rejected them saying they have not been reviewed.
I am user #3618686. Most of the photos are of the following IDs: 27000227, 26966449, 26938622, 26903938, 26902749, 26757804, 26462592, 26754114, 26965466, 26903064.
Thank you for your help.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteMy email address is bwsmit@rocketmail.com. My user name is bwsmit. I can not login, and I know I am typing in the correct password. I have even changed my password using the "forgot your password" option - I receive the email (from dont_reply@panoramio.com), follow the procedures (get the green - Password Changed. Your passord has been successfully changed - screen), but still receive the error (get the red - Please enter your email and password - screen). I have tried to send an email to password@panoramio.com to get this resolved, but receive a "failure notice" for that email address. I have tried and tried and tried to get this corrected...can you please help?
Thank you
Bryan Smith
Hello everyone!
ReplyDelete*** Pls be so kind as to forward this to the people in charge ***
I´d like to know if the policy for selecting photos is being followed, as this photo - http://www.panoramio.com/photo/26460000 - has been selected while VERY MANY of mine have been rejected, Panoramio says the photos the photos I posted aren't mine and I can´t send them for a second review (rejected twice) - Who can I talk to about this?.
I agree most pictures vessels I post are not to be accepted, but I also posted beautiful landscapes and many have been rejected!
Thank you for your attention!
I have added several photos since more than a month ago, but none of them has been reviewed for Google Earth up to now. What is going on? Should I be worried or just wait? And if so, for how long?
ReplyDeleteCan you please help? Greetings!
Today I have uploaded Four photos and after completing all the typings etc about the tags, comments etc when the SAVE button was clicked I got a message "Authoristion fialed". This is very much frustrating. Please look ino the matter and try to do something. I don't know whether these photos will appear after some time. But the message was 'Authrisation failed'.If the photos are uploaded and if it is getting failed, then it is very frustrating.Thank you.....
ReplyDeleteafter the maintainence none of my new photo's have been selected, nor reviewed. The last couple of selected photo's in september are not in GE yet, after two months....
ReplyDeletecould that be helped???? please..
