Panoramio Stats: Where are my photos viewed?

Panoramio is a community photo-sharing site for geo-located images. Photos uploaded to Panoramio show up on its website, as well as other places such as Google Earth and Google Maps.

We’re excited to announce that detailed statistics are now available to users directly within their Panoramio account. Think of Panoramio Stats as a photo-specific version of Google Analytics for Panoramio - in other words, a powerful web analytics tool that helps you measure the performance of your photos. With this new feature, you can track the sites from which your photos have been viewed in visually appealing and intuitive reports.

These statistics are available for every photographer and surface granular information about each photo. For example, a reports for the last 30 days can be broken down by referral domain so photographers can see how many times their photos were viewed within Panoramio, on Google Earth, Google Maps, and through Panoramio’s Widget API.

Additionally, Panoramio Stats helps you identify your most recently viewed and most popular photos, and lets you know about new referral sites so you can track the latest online activity around your photos and figure out what types, styles or genres of your photos generate the most interest and help you improve your craft.

I would like to thank Balázs and Ana for their help building this feature.

As always we’d love to hear your thoughts on this cool new feature, so feel free to leave us your comments in the Panoramio Forum.

  1. That is really a great news for us!

For the first time we can see the total stats (panoramio google earth) and a single stats page for each photo.

I have only one trouble regarding one my pic (http://www.panoramio.com/photo/1043527):

1)the "total views" of that photo is 150185 but if I click on the single panoramio (or google stats) graph, i can read that
There are 10053 overall views in Google Earth
There are 31429 overall views in Panoramio.com

    The total is 41482 ...

  4. Fantastic! Extraordinary! Sensational! I was fascinated with this new technology!

This new feature puts the Panoramio million light years to other photo sites! Congratulations to the whole team.

We now need to evolve to the issue of space to describe the photos. This is still an important issue and has not been resolved.

    ...

Fantástico! Extraordinário! Sensacional! Fiquei fascinado com essa nova tecnologia!

Este novo recurso coloca o Panoramio a milhões de anos luz dos outros sites de fotos! Parabéns a toda a equipe.

Precisamos agora evoluir para a questão do espaço para a descrição das fotos. Esta ainda é uma questão importante e que não foi resolvida.

  5. This is really cool. One of the best statistisc that I have ever seen. The number of information is staggering. The navigation is very intuitative.
A very minor complaint though: The Similar photos is completely off.
5 stars from lichtenhansen - panoramio user 2512952.

  8. The new stats will take a bit of getting used to as from what I can see so far it really only covers the last 30 days which isn't a lot in terms of photos that have been posted years back. Which figure is factored into the equation that determines visibility in GE?

  9. A great thing, many thanks to inform me about my 10000 views last month (and total of 119 000!!!!)!

But... Will you make the fusion with Picasa, or at least make the fusion for the stats?

  11. I have tags like > 100, > 200, > 300, etc. They don't give me the right pictures anymore if I select one of those tags. Do I have to connect my pictures again to the tags or is Pano coming with a solution.

I like the old statistics (# of views with Pano and # of views with GE) much more.

    Greetings Berend

  12. Hi,
in principle I appreciate the new statistics, still I have some remarks:
    - first of all, it would have been better to send a prior "alert" of the new feature, as, all of a sudden, the patterns of my own little stats have become obsolete.
    - in my opinion, it would be more useful if the stats first showed the totals per domain (Panoramio, GE etc.) and then the views for the last 30 days (totals and breakdown by domain).
    - IMPORTANT: I have some doubts regarding the reliability of the figures? Incidentally, I did my own stats just hours before the new feature became available, and I note that the number of views in Panoramio differed quite a lot between before and after introduction of the new feature. In some cases, the number increased a lot, but there are also cases where the number decreased (which seems very strange). Can you provide an explanation ?
    Ciao

  14. I like all the changes...even if some views have changed and they are a little bit less than they were...

But I am not able to understand "The similar photos"....what do you mean by that?...Similar in which theme because the numbers of viewers at the similar photos given are much much more than mine (I mean my photo that is similar to them....)...May you explain to me the meaning of this comparison? ...

    Greetings

  16. I cant understand the variations of the statistics of views: I'am counting almost every day the views of my pictures and i notice considerable variations of the simple to the double. It's impossible to understand.
a view is a view and the number can't decrese. this occurs on numerous pictures.
    have you an explanation??
    thanks for your answer

  17. Great job! I'm happy to see these cool helpful improvements! I'm also happy because now I can see the total (Panoramio GE) number of views under the picture on our main page, a feature I had personally asked for, the last time you made similar improvements!!!

    Keep making such helpful improvements!!!

  18. I want the stats for my photos to be private and not public! As Google knows the stats, what is the reason for not giving me the ability to keep my stats private?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have to agree with Sylvietsak above about 'Similar Photos', so far I don't see much resembalance between the main photo and those show in the 'similar photos' section. While I don't want to critise to much but before Panoramio views updated as soon as you clicked on a photo, this seems to have changed to daily updates I assume!

  21. An interesting thing: one of my photos (http://www.panoramio.com/user/3553661 - Swan) has 1 comment, 1 like, and 0 views. How can it be? How could someone comment on my photo and "like" it without even viewing it? Is there some bug?

  22. Great feature, thanks for adding. So when do I get AdSense for my 25K pageviews / month?

  23. That is a very cool tool.

    Thanks so much

  24. I agree with bdeh: I like the old statistics (# of views with Pano and # of views with GE) much more

  25. The new stats interface is better than the older, but does not give the option to keep stats private. In my photos I must have the ability to keep the stats private. By making making stats public you force users into competition.
(and please do not delete my comments or you have to answer me by e-mail the reason)

  28. Hello! I think that this new feature is OK. However something is wrong with the number of views of my photos in Panoramio since October 1. In many cases there were some views and now they have become less or zero. Also, there are no views at all in the photos I uploaded in the last four days, something it did not happen before (since I started about a month ago). I don't understand this. Could you please let me know what's wrong?
    Greetings.

  32. I like the new statistic feature a lot!
In future I recommend more detailed help and explanation of new features.
Now many users have been confused and needed forum moderators or other users to explain how feature works. Even now we only guess what similar photos means...
Be more open towards users, please!

  33. OK I am happy to see my statistics via http://www.panoramio.com/user/69195/stats I would happy if you can add some features like adjustable duration rather than fixed month duration would be great Further if you can give us audience profile like the country of origin (based on the ip address) browser, may be the browser for panoramio they used etc.
