Google Translate powered comments

In the Panoramio team we have Jose whose native language is Spanish. Gyuri, Balázs and Egmont’s primary language is Hungarian. Roger and Gerard speak in Catalan and Nicolas speaks Russian. We understand each other using English but it would be much better if we all could speak in our own language and the rest would just understand it.

It is easier to express yourself in your own language and it is for this reason that we have just powered Panoramio comments with Google Translate. If you click on the “Translate” link under a comment written in a language different from the language you are viewing Panoramio, Google Translate will give you a translated version of the comment.

We hope this addition to Panoramio will ease your communications and will allow you to talk with people from all over the world about places and photography.

Saludos, greetings, salutations, grüße, ご挨拶, etc. etc.

  7. In the past I used Microsoft Bing Translator via http://www.microsofttranslator.com/ to read the comments in the paste which are posted other than English or Tamil. In both cases (i.e Bing Translator or Google Translate) my native language Tamil Which is declared as a classical language not yet available. So it doesn't matter for me to choose whichever the translate engine to use. Dispite of the fact that Tamil is an official language in India, Sri Lanka and Sigapore in the internet there seems to be no successful translators available so far. hope see a day when Microsoft and Google will introduce my mother tongue Tamil too.

  8. Just one suggestion came to my mind, w.r.t translations. For example if I logon using my credentials then can I automatically see all the comments in English (with automated translations to English with the comments which are not in English depending on my preference). For instance Russian guy who long on to panoramio may prefer to see all the comments in Russian than English, this may or may not be the case depending on the preference. This may have some advantages rather than clicking translate the comment. Which would be a real time server I suppose :).

  14. A idéia é boa, mas quando estará disponivel para a lingua Portuguesa? Ou seja traduzir os comentários que recebo em outras línguas para a minha.

Este é um ótimo recurso! Bravo!

  15. Regarding Portuguese, it only works if your Panoramio is configured to Português (Portugal). If it is configured to Português (Brasil) it will turn all commentaries into English.

Ao que diz respeito ao português, só funciona se o seu Panoramio estiver configurado para Português (Portugal). Se estiver configurado para Português (Brasil) vai transformar todos os comentários em inglês.

  16. It's not working for Portuguese (Brasil) only. All commentaries in any languages are translated into English. But if you set your Panoramio pages to Portuguese (Portugal), the commentaries are translated correctly into Portuguese.

Não está funcionando para Português (Brasil) apenas. Todos os comentários em qualquer língua são traduzidos para o inglês. Mas se você configurar suas páginas do Panoramio para Português (Portugal), os comentários são corretamente traduzidos para português.

  17. If the page is set to Portugues (Brasil) the translation turns to English. If the page is set to Portuguese (Portugal) the comment is correctly translated into Portuguese.

  20. PT_BR is fixed and should redirect to PT as of now. The reason is Google Translate not supporting PT_BR yet.
