Last Friday we release to the Panoramio community a new feature called Your best photos.
The feature is very cool as it allows visitors to check your best photos, but I had to agree with you that this can get a bit repetitive for recurrent visitors to your account. It is for this reason that we are introducing today the first iteration of the feature based on the feedback provided by the community in the Panoramio Forum.
The default view for new visitors to a Panoramio user page will be the tab best photos.
The default view for visitors that have stored you in their Favorite photographers list, will be all photos. And this will be the default both visiting the account following the link in the Favorite photographers list in the user page and in the email we send with notifications for new photos added for your photographers.
All photos is now also the default when I visit my own gallery.
We think that this change on the defaults will allow you to show your best content to users that may not know your work and therefore feel more interested in it, while it will provide the fresh new additions to your galleries to those photographers that decided to add you as a favorite in Panoramio.

It was a great idea to show in all cases the Best Photos as default first page for everybody, giving finally to all visitors the possibility to show even older pictures which otherwise will never be seen if you have a large gallery.
ReplyDeleteIt was also a good possibility to have a nicer appearance of your own gallery for your friend, marked as favourites.
Sorry for this first adjustment, personally I preferred as it was before.
Generally the feature 'Best Photo' is a great idea.

I don't think there is a need to display ever the page of the best photos, when some user has 0 photos marked as the best. And it happens always whan the user is not my favorite. To see empty page when I'm visiting some gallery for the first time is a little bit ugly.
